Description

Experience the sophisticated flavors of traditional French Cordon Bleu in a family-friendly, stress-free casserole format. By utilizing tender rotisserie chicken and savory halal turkey deli meat combined with a velvety, tangy mustard-cream sauce and a double-cheese blend of Swiss and Gruyere, this dish eliminates tedious rolling and frying. Finished with a golden, crunchy panko topping, this oven-baked comfort meal provides an elegant and efficient solution for busy weeknight dinners without sacrificing taste or texture.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups cooked shredded rotisserie chicken
8 ounces halal turkey deli slices, chopped
2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup low-sodium chicken stock
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for greasing dish)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken stock, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard until smooth.
Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish lightly with olive oil or butter.
Spread a thin layer of the sauce on the bottom of the prepared dish.
Layer the shredded chicken and chopped turkey deli meat evenly over the sauce.
Pour the remaining sauce mixture over the chicken and turkey layer.
Top the assembly with the shredded Swiss and Gruyere cheeses.
Sprinkle the panko breadcrumbs evenly over the cheese layer.
Bake for 35 minutes or until the edges are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.

Notes

For best results, grate the Swiss and Gruyere cheese from a block rather than using pre-shredded cheese to ensure better melting. If the panko crust browns too quickly, cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil for the remainder of the cook time. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
