Description

These Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are hearty, savory patties made with ground beef and finely shredded cabbage, perfect for a weeknight family meal.


Ingredients

1.5 lbs ground beef
4 cups finely shredded green cabbage
1 large egg, lightly beate
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onio
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried dill
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Finely shred the green cabbage using a food processor, mandoline, or sharp knife
  3. Sauté finely chopped yellow onion in a skillet with olive oil until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute; let cool slightly
  4. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, shredded cabbage, cooled onion and garlic, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, dill, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt
  5. Mix the ingredients gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing
  6. Divide the mixture into 6-8 equal portions and form patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make an indentation in the center of each patty
  7. Place patties on the baking sheet and brush tops with olive oil
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until browned and cooked through (internal temp of 160°F)
  9. Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving
