Description

These delicious, protein-packed burger bowls offer all the savory satisfaction of a classic burger without the refined carbohydrates of a bun. By using high-quality lean ground beef and a fresh foundation of crunchy romaine lettuce, this meal is perfect for a quick, nutritious, and customizable weeknight dinner that supports a healthy lifestyle. Perfectly balanced and easy to assemble, these bowls are ideal for meal prep and individual preference adjustments.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 95/5 ratio)
1 large head romaine lettuce, finely chopped
1 small red onion, finely diced
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Sea salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste

Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Add the lean ground beef to the pan, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spoon.
Season the beef generously with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully browned and no pink remains.
Drain any excess fat from the skillet while keeping the meat moist.
Divide the chopped romaine lettuce into four serving bowls as the base.
Top each bowl with an equal portion of the cooked beef.
Distribute the red onion, cherry tomatoes, pickles, and shredded cheddar cheese evenly among the bowls.

Notes

You can batch-cook the beef ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a heartier base, try using cauliflower rice or a mix of greens. Add sliced avocado for extra healthy fats and satiety.
