Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef (85/15)
1 large yellow onion, finely diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
15 oz tomato sauce
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
6 hamburger buns
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spoon.
Cook the beef until browned, then drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the diced onion and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika.
Stir well to combine and bring to a gentle simmer.
Reduce heat to low and cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and flavors to meld.
Serve the meat mixture hot on toasted hamburger buns.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove or in the microwave. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes during the simmering stage.
