Ingredients
1.5 lbs Ground Beef
1 cup Marinara Sauce
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 medium Onion, finely chopped
1 Green Bell Pepper, chopped
1 cup Sliced Pepperoni
1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
1 tsp Garlic Powder
Salt and Pepper to taste
6 Burger Buns
Fresh Basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients by chopping the onion and bell pepper
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it's no longer pink. Drain any excess fat
- Transfer the cooked beef into your slow cooker. Add the marinara sauce, onion, bell pepper, sliced pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Stir to combine
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours
- About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the mixture in the slow cooker. Cover again and let the cheese melt
- Toast the burger buns just before serving. Spoon the slow-cooked mixture onto the buns and garnish with fresh basil if desired
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh and quality ingredients.
Freshly grating the Parmesan adds a nutty taste that complements the dish.
If you're preparing for a party, complete the burger mix the day before and reheat it gently before serving.
Toasting the buns adds a delightful crunch, complementing the tender filling inside.
