Description

A simple, savory, and slightly sweet ground chicken recipe designed to be a weeknight miracle for families with picky eaters. This foolproof skillet meal is incredibly fast, uses simple pantry ingredients, and can be on the table in under 20 minutes. It’s versatile enough to be served over rice, in tacos, or on buns.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 lb Ground Chicken (93/7 lean)
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
3 tbsp Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Maple Syrup
2 tbsp Water or Chicken Broth

Instructions

  1. Place a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it warm up
  2. Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Use a spatula to break the chicken into small crumbles and cook for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through and no longer pink
  3. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika over the cooked chicken. Stir to combine and cook for one more minute until fragrant
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, maple syrup, and water
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet over the seasoned chicke
  6. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly and glazes the chicken. Remove from heat and serve immediately

Notes

To make this recipe gluten-free, substitute the soy sauce with gluten-free tamari or coconut aminos.

This recipe also works well with ground turkey or lean ground beef.

For extra nutrients, sneak in finely grated carrot or zucchini by adding it to the skillet with the ground chicken.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
