Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs total)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
2 green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside
- In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for 30 seconds
- Add soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar to the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer
- Whisk together cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry. Add to the simmering sauce and whisk until thickened
- Return the chicken to the skillet and coat with the sauce. Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving
Notes
Adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more cornstarch slurry for a thicker glaze.
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in a portion of the sauce for up to 2 hours before cooking.
