Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken Breast recipe is a simple and delicious dish that combines sweet honey and pungent garlic to create an irresistible glaze. It's easy to prepare and perfect for busy weeknights, offering a burst of flavor with juicy chicken breast.

Ingredients

Scale

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs total)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
2 green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside
  3. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for 30 seconds
  4. Add soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar to the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer
  5. Whisk together cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry. Add to the simmering sauce and whisk until thickened
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and coat with the sauce. Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving

Notes

Adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more cornstarch slurry for a thicker glaze.

For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in a portion of the sauce for up to 2 hours before cooking.
