Description

This Homemade Alfredo Sauce is a rich and creamy classic that transforms simple ingredients into a restaurant-quality dish.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 cups Heavy Cream
2 cups Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 teaspoon Salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper, or to taste
Pinch of Freshly Grated Nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Grate the Parmesan cheese and mince the garlic
  2. Melt the Butter: Place a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat and add the butter until it melts
  3. Sauté the Garlic: Add minced garlic to the melted butter and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute
  4. Add the Heavy Cream: Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently, increasing the heat to medium to bring to a gentle simmer
  5. Whisk in the Parmesan: Gradually add the Parmesan cheese while whisking continuously until melted and smooth
  6. Season the Sauce: Stir in salt, black pepper, and optional nutmeg; adjust to taste
  7. Achieve Desired Consistency: Cook for another 1-2 minutes on low heat, whisking until thickened. Add pasta water if needed
  8. Serve Immediately: Toss the sauce with cooked pasta or serve as desired

Notes

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
