These Easy Homemade Garlic Knots are warm, pillowy bread infused with aromatic garlic and fresh herbs, perfect for any meal or as a delightful snack.
Ingredients
1 cup (240ml) warm water
2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
4–6 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
½ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit until foamy
- Prepare the dough by adding flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours
- Shape the dough into ropes and tie them into knots, then let them rise again for 30-45 minutes
- Bake the knots in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golde
- Make garlic butter by mixing melted butter with minced garlic, parsley, and optional herbs
- Brush the baked knots with garlic butter and serve warm
Notes
Experiment with flour alternatives for different textures.
Can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
