Description
This Easy Chocolate Croissant Bake combines golden, flaky croissants with rich chocolate and a custardy embrace, creating a decadent breakfast or dessert that's effortlessly indulgent. Perfect for feeding a crowd or enjoying a special treat at home.
Ingredients
6 large Croissants (preferably day-old)
4 large Eggs
2 cups Whole Milk
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (optional)
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or Chunks
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter (for greasing the dish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with unsalted butter
- Tear or cut the croissants into 1 to 1 1/2-inch pieces and place them evenly in the prepared baking dish
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks over the croissant pieces
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon (if using), and salt until well combined
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and chocolate, pressing down gently to submerge them
- Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 1 hour to allow the croissants to absorb the custard
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is golden brow
- Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving
Notes
Day-old croissants work best for absorption, but fresh ones can be used if necessary.
Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate or add berries and nuts for variation.
