Description

This Easy Chocolate Croissant Bake combines golden, flaky croissants with rich chocolate and a custardy embrace, creating a decadent breakfast or dessert that's effortlessly indulgent. Perfect for feeding a crowd or enjoying a special treat at home.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Croissants (preferably day-old)
4 large Eggs
2 cups Whole Milk
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (optional)
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or Chunks
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter (for greasing the dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with unsalted butter
  2. Tear or cut the croissants into 1 to 1 1/2-inch pieces and place them evenly in the prepared baking dish
  3. Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks over the croissant pieces
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon (if using), and salt until well combined
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and chocolate, pressing down gently to submerge them
  6. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 1 hour to allow the croissants to absorb the custard
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is golden brow
  8. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving

Notes

Day-old croissants work best for absorption, but fresh ones can be used if necessary.

Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate or add berries and nuts for variation.
