Description

This Easy Apple Tart features a flaky puff pastry crust filled with tender, caramelized apples, making it a delightful dessert that’s simple to prepare. It's perfect for satisfying sweet cravings without a lengthy baking process.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet (about 14 ounces / 390g) Puff Pastry, thawed
34 medium-sized Apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/4 cup (50g) Granulated Sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
1 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamo
1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter, melted
1 teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1 large Egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon Water (for egg wash, optional)
2 tablespoons Apricot Jam or Marmalade, warmed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet and score a 1-inch border around the edges
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the apple slices with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until coated
  4. Arrange the apple slices in an overlapping pattern within the scored border on the puff pastry
  5. Dot the apples with melted butter and brush the border with egg wash, if using
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender
  7. Remove the tart from the oven and brush with warmed jam for a glossy finish. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before serving

Notes

For best results, keep the puff pastry cold until ready to use.

Use a mix of apples for a balanced flavor.

Allow the tart to cool to help set the filling before slicing.
