Ingredients
1 sheet (about 14 ounces / 390g) Puff Pastry, thawed
3–4 medium-sized Apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/4 cup (50g) Granulated Sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
1 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamo
1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter, melted
1 teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1 large Egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon Water (for egg wash, optional)
2 tablespoons Apricot Jam or Marmalade, warmed (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
- Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet and score a 1-inch border around the edges
- In a medium bowl, mix the apple slices with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until coated
- Arrange the apple slices in an overlapping pattern within the scored border on the puff pastry
- Dot the apples with melted butter and brush the border with egg wash, if using
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender
- Remove the tart from the oven and brush with warmed jam for a glossy finish. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before serving
