Description
These Crispy Air Fryer Wonton Mozzarella Sticks deliver that incredible crispness and cheesy pull without the mess and added fat of traditional deep-frying. They come together incredibly fast, making them ideal for last-minute cravings or unexpected guests.

- 16 mozzarella cheese sticks (part-skim, low-moisture), thawed slightly for easier handling
- 32 square wonton wrappers
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray (olive oil or avocado oil spray works best)
- Marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash
- Combine the garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper in another small bowl
- Take one wonton wrapper and lay it flat on a clean surface in a diamond shape. Place a cheese stick horizontally across the center of the wrapper, about an inch from the bottom point
- Sprinkle the cheese stick with a pinch of your seasoning mix. Fold the bottom point of the wonton wrapper up and over the cheese stick
- Fold in the left and right corners towards the center, overlapping them slightly. Brush a little egg wash onto the top corner of the wrapper. Roll the cheese stick upwards, tightly enclosing it in the wrapper, until you reach the top corner. Press firmly to seal
- Repeat this process for all 16 mozzarella cheese sticks
- Freeze the assembled sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet for at least 30 minutes until firm
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C)
- Lightly spray the inside of your air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the frozen wonton mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the basket
- Spray the tops of the wonton mozzarella sticks generously with cooking spray
- Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping
Notes
Ensure to freeze the assembled sticks before air frying to achieve the best texture.
Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer.
