Description

Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo is a comforting and creamy pasta dish that combines tender chicken, vibrant Cajun spices, and rich Alfredo sauce with orzo pasta.

Ingredients

Scale

2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
1.5 pounds Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning, plus more for taste
1 medium Yellow Onion, finely diced
1 Red Bell Pepper, finely diced
1 Green Bell Pepper, finely diced
4 cloves Garlic, minced
4 cups Chicken Broth
1.5 cups Orzo Pasta
1.5 cups Heavy Cream
1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese, plus more for garnish
1/2 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley, for garnish
Salt and Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the cubed chicken breast dry with paper towels. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sprinkle it with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning. Sear for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Reduce heat to medium, add remaining olive oil, and sauté diced onion and bell peppers for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute
  3. Deglaze and Add Orzo: Pour in the broth, scraping the skillet to deglaze, and bring to a simmer. Stir in orzo and remaining Cajun seasoning
  4. Cook the Orzo: Cover the skillet and simmer for 10-12 minutes until orzo is al dente and liquid is mostly absorbed
  5. Create the Creamy Sauce: Uncover and stir in heavy cream and cooked chicken. Simmer gently for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens
  6. Finish with Cheese: Off heat, stir in grated Parmesan until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy
