Description

These elegant Apple Puff Pastry Roses are a delicious and visually stunning dessert that combines flaky puff pastry with tender, spiced apple slices. Easy to make yet impressive, they are perfect for brunch or as a special treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet Puff Pastry (approximately 10×10 inches or 250g), thawed
2 medium-sized Apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), cored and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamo
Pinch Ground Nutmeg
2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
1/4 cup Apricot Preserves or Jam, warmed (optional)
12 tablespoons Powdered Sugar, for dusting (optional)
Flour, for dusting work surface

Instructions

  1. Core and thinly slice the apples, then toss with lemon juice
  2. Microwave the apple slices on high for 2-3 minutes until pliable
  3. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to about 12×12 inches
  4. Cut the pastry sheet into six equal strips, approximately 2 inches wide
  5. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl and melt the butter in another bowl
  6. Brush each pastry strip with melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture
  7. Arrange softened apple slices along the top half of each pastry strip and fold the bottom half up over the apples
  8. Roll each pastry strip into a tight coil to form roses
  9. Place the rolled roses into a muffin tin and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 35-45 minutes
  10. Brush with warm apricot preserves once baked for glaze and dust with powdered sugar if desired
  11. Cool slightly before serving

Notes

For best results, keep the puff pastry cold and avoid overcooking the apples in the microwave.
