Description
These elegant Apple Puff Pastry Roses are a delicious and visually stunning dessert that combines flaky puff pastry with tender, spiced apple slices. Easy to make yet impressive, they are perfect for brunch or as a special treat.
Ingredients
1 sheet Puff Pastry (approximately 10×10 inches or 250g), thawed
2 medium-sized Apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), cored and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamo
Pinch Ground Nutmeg
2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
1/4 cup Apricot Preserves or Jam, warmed (optional)
1–2 tablespoons Powdered Sugar, for dusting (optional)
Flour, for dusting work surface
Instructions
- Core and thinly slice the apples, then toss with lemon juice
- Microwave the apple slices on high for 2-3 minutes until pliable
- Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to about 12×12 inches
- Cut the pastry sheet into six equal strips, approximately 2 inches wide
- Mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl and melt the butter in another bowl
- Brush each pastry strip with melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture
- Arrange softened apple slices along the top half of each pastry strip and fold the bottom half up over the apples
- Roll each pastry strip into a tight coil to form roses
- Place the rolled roses into a muffin tin and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 35-45 minutes
- Brush with warm apricot preserves once baked for glaze and dust with powdered sugar if desired
- Cool slightly before serving
Notes
For best results, keep the puff pastry cold and avoid overcooking the apples in the microwave.
